The Olympia Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Puyallup Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympia will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Olympia had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Curtis on Monday. The Bears put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 20-7 win. Considering the Bears have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Mauldin was incredible, scoring four runs while going 4-for-5. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Georgia Maurer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Olympia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Puyallup ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 19-16 victory over Yelm. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on three straight.
Puyallup got a massive performance out of Mack Hardesty, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Ringenbach, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Olympia's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Puyallup, their record now sits at 5-3.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Olympia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Puyallup struggles in that department as they've averaged .516. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Olympia couldn't quite finish off Puyallup in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
