Basketball Recap: Winamac Piles Up the Points Against Culver Community

After losing to Culver Community the last time they met, Winamac decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Winamac Warriors blew past the Culver Community Cavaliers 54-26 on Tuesday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Winamac's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaybin Hines led the charge by putting up 12 points. Hines has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Will Malchow was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Culver Community lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Caleb McCuen, who posted 11 points. That's the most points McCuen has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas McCuen, who had seven points.

The win was the third in a row for Winamac, bringing their record for this year to 4-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Culver Community, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winamac and Triton will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Culver Community, they will head out to take on North Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
