The Shelby Golden Lions suffered their biggest defeat since December 21, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Thomas Jefferson, falling 72-41. Shelby was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-18.
Several Golden Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamiah Hopper, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Nakia Blake was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Shelby has fallen quite a ways from their 26-2 record last season and are now at 5-10. As for Thomas Jefferson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelby will take on Burns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomas Jefferson, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Highland Tech at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
