Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverdale Christian). They walked away with a 46-35 victory over the Laton Mustangs on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Ambassadors as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Donavin Mobley, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Mobley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jesus Saavedra, who had ten points.
Riverdale Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Laton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Riverdale Christian and Alpaugh will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Riverdale Christian is facing Alpaugh at the right time seeing as Alpaugh is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Laton, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wonderful College Prep Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
