The Valor Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Ralston Valley Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valor Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 matches -- so hopefully the Mustangs like a good challenge.
Valor Christian stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 75-24 win over Columbine. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Valor Christian had established a 47 point advantage.
Cole Scherer was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with six assists and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games he's played. Brady Wynja was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Ralston Valley came tearing into Wednesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Bear Creek for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-34 win at home. Ralston Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Jackson Hansen, who scored 20 points along with five assists and four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tanner Braketa, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Valor Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Ralston Valley, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Valor Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 67 points per game. However, it's not like Ralston Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.2 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Valor Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in January, winning 68-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valor Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
