The Russell Rustlers will face off against the Billings Senior Broncs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Russell is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Russell blew Capital out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Capital got their revenge. The Rustlers fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 2-0.
Russell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myli Adams, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. Taylor Thompson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Billings Senior faced Billings West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Broncs came out on top against the Golden Bears by a score of 6-2.
Billings Senior also got a great performance from Rayvin Fisher as she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Fisher a new career-high.
At the plate, Viennah Meyer was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Octavia Meyer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Billings Senior's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Russell hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Billings Senior struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
