Carver has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Bowen Boilermakers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carver's defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so Bowen's offense will have their work cut out for Bowen.
Carver scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 47-10 win over Harlan. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Carver has managed all season.
Carver got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Astarte Washington out in front who scored 18 points. The match was Washington's sixth in a row with at least ten points. JaNiyah Statham was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Bowen lost to Hancock on the road by a decisive 26-9 margin on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bowen has scored all season.
Delia Walker put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals. Walker set a new season high mark in steals with three.
Carver's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Despite that those victories, the team's offense hasn't been rolling: across that stretch, they only averaged 29.8 points per game. As for Bowen, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Wednesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Washington and Kimora Myles. Washington has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 21.1 points, 0 rebounds, and 0 assists. For her part, Myles has averaged 18 points, 3.8 steals, and 5 rebounds.
Carver was able to grind out a solid victory over Bowen when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 34-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carver since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
