Idalia has gone a perfect 10-0 against Bethune recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wolves will take on the Bobcats in a tournament on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Idalia's tournament run continued when they took on Caliche on Monday. The Wolves fell 43-39 to the Buffaloes.
Despite their defeat, Idalia saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Broderick Kite, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 14 points and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Kechter, who posted 12 points and seven boards.
Meanwhile, Bethune was beaten by Prairie 59-25 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Mustangs are ranked 102nd).
Like Idalia, Bethune lost despite seeing results from several players. Caleb Gitschlag led the charge by going 5-for-10 en route to 10 points. Gitschlag has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.
Bethune has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Idalia, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Idalia has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bethune struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Idalia against Bethune when the teams last played on February 5th, as the team secured a 72-41 win. In that game, the Wolves amassed a halftime lead of 38-18, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
