Pymatuning Valley has gone 7-1 against Chalker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Lakers will take on the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Pymatuning Valley's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Pymatuning Valley and Bristol, and Pymatuning Valley kept the tradition alive. The Lakers never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. Fans of the Lakers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Not much got past Peyton Hudson, who gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Bristol off the board. Hudson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Pymatuning Valley got a big performance out of Kendall Gray, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Payne, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chalker, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Harding on Monday. The matchup marked the Wildcats' most dominant win of the season so far.
Tatum Hudak and Gabby Hromada were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Hudak struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Hromada struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. At bat, Hudak scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Hromada scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, Hromada posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Abby Grimm was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Morgan Strock also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Chalker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harding only managed four hits.
Chalker's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pymatuning Valley, their record is now 5-0.
Pymatuning Valley skirted past Chalker 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
