After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Des Moines, the Primero Bulldogs were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They really took it to Walsenburg for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-25 win on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-11.
Primero found their leader in underclassman Isabela Maldonado, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Maldonado has scored at least 25% of Primero's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aimee Mincic , who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
The win got Primero back to even at 1-1. As for Walsenburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Primero will head out on the road to face off against Creede at 1:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for Walsenburg, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Crowley County at 4:30 p.m.
