The Severance Silver Knights will challenge the Sand Creek Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Severance is coming into the game hot, having won their last 13 games.
Last Saturday, Severance beat Greeley Central 59-47. Given the Silver Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th in Colorado, while the Wildcats are ranked 263rd in Colorado), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Severance got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Damarii Wright out in front who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. Jordan Rodriguez was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.
Severance smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 14 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sand Creek walked away with it. They were the clear victor by an 84-59 margin over the Olympians on Tuesday. The Scorpions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.
Sand Creek's win came from a few key players Severance will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josh Kotto, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Brotherns, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 14 points and eight boards.
Severance's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points over those games. As for Sand Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Severance has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sand Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.9 boards.
