The Emmett Huskies will head out to face off against the Bishop Kelly Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Emmett turned things around against Nampa on Friday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 42-34. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Huskies were the better team in the second half.

Emmett found their leader in sophomore Eli Brennan, who rushed for 216 yards and four TDs while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 61 yards and one touchdown. The Huskies are 2-1 when Brennan posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise. Nessen Korell was in the mix too, providing Emmett with two scores.
Emmett was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 318 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 217 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Bishop Kelly's strategy against Ridgevue on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Knights blew the Warhawks out of the water with a 46-13 final score. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Warhawks: they've now won seven in a row.
Emmett better keep an eye on Ben Avella. He was instrumental in Bishop Kelly's win, throwing for 176 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 58 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Another player making a difference was Ryan Arellano, who rushed for 107 yards and one score on only 14 carries.
One reason for the win was Bishop Kelly's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Jared Thiel with two. Bishop Kelly received some extra help from Nick Hebert, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
The win got Emmett back to even at 4-4. As for Bishop Kelly, their record now sits at 8-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Emmett has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 309.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bishop Kelly struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 174.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Emmett lost to Bishop Kelly on the road by a decisive 21-6 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
