Basketball Recap: Southern Lee Skates Past Union Pines with Ease

After losing to Union Pines the last time they met, Southern Lee decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Southern Lee Cavaliers simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Union Pines Vikings 74-33. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Union Pines' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylen Kyle, who posted ten points. Kyle is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last three games he's played. Kolby Scruton was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Southern Lee's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Union Pines, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Lee will challenge Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lee County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Union Pines, they will square off against Pinecrest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Union Pines is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.6 points per game this season.
