The Seymour Owls will face off against the Columbus East Olympians at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus East took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Seymour, who comes in off a win.
Seymour lost a heartbreaker the last time they played New Albany, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Owls were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Phoebe Underwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Abby Followell and Lainey Sandlin did most of the damage at the plate: Followell went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Sandlin went 4-for-5 with two runs and two doubles. Those four hits gave Sandlin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Stuckwisch, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Columbus East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Lawrence Central.
Lola Watkins was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Watkins is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
The victory made it two in a row for Seymour and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Columbus East, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Seymour hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Columbus East struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Seymour couldn't quite finish off Columbus East in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Will the Owls have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
