The Willard Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Neosho with a sharp 78-54 win on Thursday. Given Willard's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Neosho is ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neosho's loss came despite strong showings from Collier Hendricks and Colton Southern. Hendricks scored 16 points along with three steals, while Southern scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanten Smith, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Willard is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Neosho, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willard will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Aurora at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Neosho, they will head out on the road to face off against McDonald County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
