Baseball Recap: Holmes Has No Trouble Against Northeastern

While Holmes put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Northeastern. Holmes blew past Northeastern 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Aces, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Maddox Bass's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Myles Cobb was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Fisher Bobbitt was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.

Holmes' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Northeastern, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Holmes will head out on the road to square off against Heritage at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Holmes' pitchers better be ready for this one: Heritage has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Northeastern, they will host TEACH Homeschool at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
