The Woodlake Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 56-41 fall against Arvin.
Woodlake lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hugo Cruz, who scored 14 points. Cruz scored a full 34.1% of Woodlake's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Joseph Avilez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Arvin found their leader in underclassman Xzavier Pierson-Brooks, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Damian, who scored ten points.
Woodlake bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Arvin, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.
Woodlake has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Orange Cove at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Arvin won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Farmersville at 8:00 p.m. on December 28th. Farmersville comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
