The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Fairbury by a score of 35-27. The score was all tied up 8-8 at the break, but Wilber-Clatonia was the better team in the second half.
Fairbury lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Evelyn Timmons, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Sam Starr, who scored nine points.
Wilber-Clatonia's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Fairbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.
Wilber-Clatonia will head out on the road to face off against Sandy Creek on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Sandy Creek is ranked 223rd, while Wilber-Clatonia is ranked 229th). Fairbury will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Seward at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
