The West Orange-Stark Mustangs and the Bellville Brahmas squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the West Orange-Stark Mustangs had to settle for second. West Orange-Stark had to suffer through a rough 49-7 loss at the hands of Bellville. West Orange-Stark was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.
Bellville was led to victory by DD Murray and Sam Hranicky. Murray rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, while Hranicky rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Hranicky really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
West Orange-Stark bumped their record down to 5-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-0 Silsbee and 9-0 Newton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 90.9% over those games). As for Bellville, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
West Orange-Stark does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bellville will square off against Madisonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madisonville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
