2A-2 Region IV District 15 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Jacob Cardenas and Josh Vela provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Nixon-Smiley. The connection was good for 90 yards, the longest such play in 2A-2 Region IV District 15 this season.
Dilley's Will Urban recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Bloomington last week. Urban's team beat the Bobcats as he sprinted for 88 yards on the play and finished with 153 in all.
Urban put up the best numbers through the air as Dilley topped Bloomington. He finished with a total of seven completions for 141 yards and three touchdowns. Urban's favorite target this week was Sabby Torres, who caught two passes for 67 yards.
Vela was the best wideout in the league this week as Stockdale defeated the Mustangs. Vela tallied three receptions for 122 yards. MIguel Marquez helped Stockdale's passing attack out by catching one ball for 28 yards.
Jody Cantu's team's Urban and Leo Garcia have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A-2 Region IV District 15 in both passing and receiving yards. Urban has thrown for 476 yards this season, while Garcia has 10 catches for 173 yards. The Brahmas' Matthew Valadez leads the league in rushing yards with 929.
Stockdale's Valadez needs only 71 yards against Poth next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Josh West's team takes on the Pirates. The Brahmas are in third place, while Poth is in first place.
Andrew King's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Natalia, 47-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
