The GVCS Broadfording Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 51-42 to Heritage Academy. While losing is never fun, GVCS Broadfording can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Heritage Academy is ranked 61st).
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nashon Mann, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mann has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Monroe, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
GVCS Broadfording's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Heritage Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. GVCS Broadfording will square off against Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Heritage Academy, Heritage Academy and Frederick Christian Academy will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Frederick Christian Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
