Softball Recap: Central's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Central came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Athens Bible Trojans get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kayla Storey looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Allyson Supan and Gerritt Griggs did most of the damage at the plate: Supan scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Griggs scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Supan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Shorter, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.

Central's win bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Athens Bible, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Central will take on Westminster Christian Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Athens Bible, they will face off against Waterloo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
