4A Region III District 18 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Brenham extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region III District 18 this week by beating Rudder, 35-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Huntsville moved up to 459 from 502 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Hornets climbed the ranks as a result of beating Magnolia West 35-31.
Willis's dynamic duo of Lofton Bean and Dillon Bauer proved tough for Montgomery to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bean threw for 222 yards and one touchdown and Bauer had 74 yards receiving. Chris Platt helped Willis' passing attack out by catching four balls for 40 yards.
KD Leakes was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 134 yards on 22 carries as Brenham lost to the Bears. Darrion Johnson also contributed to the rushing game with 122 yards on the ground.
Willis' Bean and Bauer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region III District 18 in both passing and receiving yards. Bean has thrown for 1053 yards this season, while Bauer, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 21 catches for 379 yards. The Rangers' Tre Guyton leads the league in rushing yards with 1222.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Huntsville takes on Waller. Shane Martin's team is currently in second, while the Bulldogs are in fifth.
Caney Creek was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in the league.
