The Desert Ridge Jaguars and the Corona del Sol Aztecs will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Monday.
Even though Desert Ridge has not done well against the Hawks recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Desert Ridge came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 59-48. The win made it back-to-back wins for Desert Ridge.
Saige Miller continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Kaycee Steinke was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Meanwhile, Corona del Sol scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Queen Creek, posting a 60-19 win at home. The win was some much needed relief for Corona del Sol as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Desert Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Corona del Sol, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-19.
Desert Ridge took their victory against the Aztecs in their previous meeting last Thursday by a conclusive 62-37. Will Desert Ridge repeat their success, or do the Aztecs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
