It was a good run, but the Braddock Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Homestead 40-35. Braddock found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 15 to 7 on offense.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elsa Stier , who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Stier 's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Janessa Chavez was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Caitylyn Gibson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds for Homestead. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gibson has scored at least 25% of Homestead's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ardajah Fletcher, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Braddock's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Homestead, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Braddock won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mater Academy Charter at 3:30 p.m. on December 29th. Homestead and TERRA Environmental will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully TERRA Environmental focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
