The Zeeland East Chix came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They claimed a resounding 56-26 victory over Union at home. That's another feather in the cap for Zeeland East, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Zeeland East's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mirra Fenlon, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Lizzie Risdon was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Zeeland East's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Union, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zeeland East will square off against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wyoming presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Chix in Michigan (the Wolves are ranked 106th, while the Chix are ranked 436th). Union will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Dux at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th.
