If the Northeastern Clinton Cougars were riding high off their 80-58 takedown of the AuSable Valley Patriots last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Northeastern Clinton took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saranac Lake on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northeastern Clinton in their matchups with Saranac Lake: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Brown, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Rabideau, who scored 12 points.
It was another big night for Caleb Akey, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and six steals for Saranac Lake. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Akey has scored all season. Mik Denkenberger was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Northeastern Clinton bumped their record down to 4-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Saranac Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeastern Clinton will take on Saranac at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Saranac focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday. As for Saranac Lake, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ticonderoga at 7:00 p.m. Ticonderoga and Saranac Lake are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
