University Prep is 0-6 against Colusa since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will take on the RedHawks at 12:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
University Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Durham with a sharp 9-2 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won seven matches in a row.
Hailey Pebley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. Pebley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Abigail Lewis and Madisyn Rubalcava did most of the damage at the plate: Lewis went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Rubalcava went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Rubalcava is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Riley Villano was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Colusa put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Winters. The RedHawks were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the RedHawks.
Like University Prep, Colusa also got a great game from a two-way player: Ava Garcia. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Garcia was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Nair, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elli Santana, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
University Prep pushed their record up to 16-10-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Colusa, their record is now 20-7.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. University Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Colusa struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
University Prep suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Colusa in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
