The Bishop Kelley Comets lost against the Booker T. Washington Hornets back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Bishop Kelley was beaten by Booker T. Washington 72-41. While losing is never fun, Bishop Kelley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Booker T. Washington is ranked tenth).
Leading Booker T. Washington to victory were Rickey Bruner ||| and Joc Mitchell. Bruner ||| scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while Mitchell scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mason Matulis, who scored 13 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Bishop Kelley and nudges their season record down to 11-10. As for Booker T. Washington, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.
Both teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Booker T. Washington's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. They are on the road again on Thursday and plays Bishop Kelley at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Booker T. Washington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
