Antwerp is a perfect 4-0 against Continental since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Archers will challenge the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Antwerp came out on top against Miller City on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Archers took their contest against the Wildcats 8-3.
Elle Clem made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Hogans, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caroline Rohrs, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Continental entered their tilt with Holgate on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Tigers 17-7. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Antwerp, Continental also got a great game from a two-way player: Gracie Homier. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Homier was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kimberly Grant and Macie Clemens did most of the damage at the plate: Grant went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Clemens went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Grant's first of the season. Ava Homier was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Continental pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Antwerp, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13.
Antwerp skirted past Continental 4-3 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Archers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
