The Nottoway Cougars were the 63-53 winner over the Colonial Heights Colonials when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. Nottoway was outmatched by Colonial Heights on the road and fell 78-50.
Despite the loss, Nottoway saw an underclassman step up: Anton Carter Jr. dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier McCain, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds.
Nottoway's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Colonial Heights, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nottoway will challenge Kenston Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kenston Forest will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Colonial Heights, they will head out on the road to face off against Meadowbrook at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
