The Pomeroy Pirates had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They put the hurt on DeSales with a sharp 44-22 win. The result was nothing new for Pomeroy, who have now won six games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Oliver Severs had a dynamite game for Pomeroy, rushing for 180 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jett Slusser, who threw for 26 yards and two touchdowns.
Pomeroy's win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 48 points. As for DeSales, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pomeroy will take on Sunnyside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for DeSales, they will be playing at home against Dayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dayton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 41st, while DeSales is ranked sixth).
