After a string of three wins, the Weld Central Rebels's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 61-37 loss at the hands of Highland. Weld Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.
Weld Central's loss came despite strong showings from Isabel Weisenborn and Riley Phelps. Weisenborn dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Phelps dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Weld Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Highland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Weld Central and Resurrection Christian will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Highland will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sterling at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
