The Harlan Hawks won the last time they faced the Warren Warriors, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Harlan took down the Warriors 64-48. Given Harlan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Warriors are ranked 556th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harlan found their leader in underclassman Josiah Jones, who scored 18 points. Jones hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakee Thompson, who scored 13 points.
Warren lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Devin Petersen, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Petersen has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Anthony Castaneda was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Harlan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Warren, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-21.
Harlan will be playing at home against the Falcons at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Stevens is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Warren, they will face off against the Raiders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Taft has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
