Big Spring has gone 8-2 against Estacado recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Steers are taking a road trip to challenge the Matadors at 5:00 p.m. Big Spring is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Big Spring will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Liberty on Tuesday. The Steers put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 18-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Steers, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Alexa Ontiveros made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Monse Holguin looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk).
Back at the plate, Analia Hinojosa and K Speck did most of the damage at the plate: Hinojosa went 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs, while Speck went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases Hinojosa has posted since back in February. Elena Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Big Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Estacado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss. They lost 18-3 to Lake View. That's two games in a row now that the Matadors have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Estacado's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Big Spring, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Everything went Big Spring's way against Estacado in their previous matchup back in March, as Big Spring made off with a 16-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Steers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
