Crestwood extended the longest winning streak in Wyoming Valley 3A this week by beating Hazleton, 33-13. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Berwick led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Tunkhannock.
Pittston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. James Emmett threw for 121 yards and Joe Starinsky had 34 yards receiving. On the ground Marc Romanczuk chipped in 11 yards. Josh John helped Pittston's passing attack out by catching three balls for 32 yards.
The Patriots' Emmett and Starinsky have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Emmett has thrown for 548 yards this season, while Starinsky, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 15 catches for 272 yards. James M. Coughlin's Zac Evans leads the league in rushing yards with 777.
A big matchup in Wyoming Valley 3A this week will be when the Crusaders take on Pittston. James M. Coughlin is in third place, while Mike Barrett's team is in fifth place.
There should be lots of points scored when Ciro Cinti's team and the Patriots face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Crusaders comes in having scored 89 this season, while Pittston has scored 85. James M. Coughlin scored 36 points last week as it defeated Williamsport.
