Golden has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the D'Evelyn Jaguars at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Golden beat the Panthers 67-61. The win was just what Golden needed coming off of a 72-50 defeat in their prior game.
Alex Erger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leif Hansen, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, D'Evelyn had just enough and edged the Lions out 57-55 on Friday.
D'Evelyn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Liam Smith, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Smith is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Taj Kumar was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Golden's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for D'Evelyn, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Golden was able to grind out a solid win over the Jaguars when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 62-49. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was D'Evelyn's Nick Vacanti, who scored 18 points. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Golden to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
