Canyon View gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They breezed by the Verrado Vipers at home to the tune of 42-14. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
A big part of Canyon View's win came down to the chemistry between Katelyn Jewell and her top target Jaila Flowers. Jewell threw for 202 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of her passes while Flowers picked up 12 receiving yards and a touchdown. What's more, Jewell also racked up five rushing yards, the mostshe's had since back in October of 2023.
Canyon View's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Maycie Bassett and Arri Richardson.
Although Verrado took the loss, they still got scores from Gisele Wilkinson and Nevaeh Romero.
Canyon View will square off against Desert Edge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Verrado, they will challenge Bradshaw Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Verrado is looking for their season's first victory.
