The Delavan Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Peoria Christian Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delavan is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Saturday, Delavan came up short against El Paso-Gridley and fell 52-43. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Delavan in their matchups with El Paso-Gridley: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Delavan saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cooper Hansen, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Micah Brockhouse was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Peoria Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 31 points or more this season. They blew past Cornerstone Christian, posting a 63-32 victory on the road. Given Peoria Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked 652nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pekin's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Delavan's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
Delavan might still be hurting after the 61-41 loss they got from Peoria Christian in their previous matchup back in January. Can Delavan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
