On Wednesday, TERRA Environmental really took it to Sunset for the full four quarters, racking up a 46-17 victory. The team accrued 38 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
TERRA Environmental found their leader in sophomore Genevive Cherington, who posted 17 points along with six boards and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Cherington has scored at least a third of TERRA Environmental's points. Audrey Vega was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.
TERRA Environmental smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Meanwhile, St. Brendan played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Immaculata-La Salle 60-31. The Sabres were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.
TERRA Environmental will have to keep a close watch on Olivia Lopez and Claudia Luis, a pair of players who had a big impact on St. Brendan's prior game. Lopez put up nine points and five rebounds, while Luis had seven points. Thalia Acosta also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
TERRA Environmental's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Brendan, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: TERRA Environmental has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23 boards per game. However, it's not like St. Brendan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 33.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
