Softball Recap: Rancho Verde Extends Winning Streak to Four

Rancho Verde came out on top against Perris on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Mustangs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Isabelle Sena made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Rancho Verde let Jaylen Anderson and Serenity Menendez run wild. Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Menendez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Jadyn Chavez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Rancho Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win (which was Rancho Verde's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Perris, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Rancho Verde has already played their next game, an 8-2 win against Lakeside on the 15th. As for Perris, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 18-9 victory against Desert Hot Springs on the 14th.
