Freedom has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Gar-Field Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Freedom is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Red Wolves in Virginia (the Eagles are ranked 93rd, while the Red Wolves are ranked 307th).
Even though Freedom has not done well against the Sharks recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Freedom strolled past the Sharks with points to spare, taking the game 47-32.
Freedom's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keilani Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Kenneah DeGuzman was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Gar-Field scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 61-46 victory over Hylton. The win was just what Gar-Field needed coming off of a 70-29 defeat in their prior matchup.
Freedom has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Gar-Field, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13.
Everything came up roses for Freedom against the Red Wolves when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 55-12 victory. With Freedom ahead 33-5 at the half, the match was all but over already.
