After flying high against the Perryville Pirates last Friday, the DeSoto Dragons came back down to earth. DeSoto took a hard 75-59 fall against Jefferson on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, DeSoto can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Jefferson is ranked 189th).
DeSoto's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidyn Mitchell, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Evan Mcclinton was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
DeSoto dropped their record down to 9-13 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Jefferson, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 15-5.
DeSoto will head out on the road to challenge Hillsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hillsboro's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for Jefferson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 408 points over their last six contests.
