Softball Recap: Daphne Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Daphne never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Robertsdale Golden Bears. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Victoria Moten made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 15 contests.

In other batting news, Daphne got a big performance out of Hannah Newport, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Karsyn Barnett, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Daphne pushed their record up to 29-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Robertsdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-14.

Daphne didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 0-0 draw against Baldwin County on the 9th. As for Robertsdale, they are taking a road trip to challenge Foley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.85 runs per game on average), something the Golden Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
