The Wekiva Mustangs fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Ocoee Knights on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. Wekiva has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Wekiva saw an underclassman step up: Jasmine Pooler scored 13 points.
Among those leading the charge was Micah Hannah, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 steals. Hannah is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Triplett, who scored 3 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Ocoee, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Wekiva's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lake Brantley at 7:30 p.m. on December 4th. Lake Brantley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Wekiva is ranked 169th). As for Ocoee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Seminole at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
