It may have taken  eight innings to finish the job, but Potlatch ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Troy Trojans, sneaking past  4-3. The  win was familiar territory for the Loggers, who have now won 11  contests in a row.
 Logan Carpenter spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in five consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  Mason Woolverton was  excellent,  going 3-for-4 with two  runs and one  double. That  double was  his first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Jay Marshall, who  went 3-for-4 with two  RBI.
Potlatch's victory was  their eighth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 12-1. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Troy,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 5-5.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Potlatch will  face off against  rival Kendrick  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Loggers 3.5, the Tigers 2.9) so any  runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Troy is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Prairie  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
