Baseball Recap: Grosse Pointe South Has No Trouble Against Anchor Bay

While Grosse Pointe South put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Anchor Bay. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Tars with a sharp 8-0 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Dane Lezotte was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other pitching news, Alex Foote looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Henry Domzalski was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Drew Hess was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Grosse Pointe South's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Anchor Bay, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grosse Pointe South will welcome University Liggett at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Devils 2.3, the Knights 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Anchor Bay, they will be playing at home against Utica at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Chieftains have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
