The Bard Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by Jackson-Reed 66-18. While losing is never fun, Bard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Tigers are ranked second).
Despite the loss, Bard still got an impressive performance from Kaemon McNeil, who scored four points along with five blocks. Andre Wright was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Bard struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-5) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Jackson-Reed's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kai Settles, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Justin Gilmore, who scored 11 points.
Bard's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Jackson-Reed, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 22-2.
Bard will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Ballou focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Wednesday. As for Jackson-Reed, they will head out on the road to face off against the Titans at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Alexandria City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
