Football Recap: Clovis East Makes It Six in a Row on the Road + How To Watch

Clovis East won the last time they faced Kingsburg and things went their way on Friday too. The Timberwolves took down the Vikings 27-10. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Timberwolves' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Vikings are ranked 171st).

Jamie Spurgeon was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 259 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 57 yards. 109 of Spurgeon's passing yards were hauled in by James Drake.

Clovis East didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joey Burge and Cordae Colbert. Clovis East got some further help from Geno Capriola: he picked up two sacks and made nine total tackles.

Clovis East pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points over those games. As for Kingsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clovis East will host Sanger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kingsburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dinuba at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
