There's no place like home for The Moody Blue Devils, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 34-21 victory over Southside on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Moody, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Moody got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Charlie Johnston out in front who threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Blaine Burke, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Southside's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordan Bryan, who rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Mason Teague was another key contributor, gaining 123 total yards and a touchdown.
Moody's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.8 points per game. As for Southside, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moody will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Scottsboro at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. One thing working in Scottsboro's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Southside, they will head out on the road to face off against Etowah on Friday. Etowah will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Southside is ranked 82nd).
